159/365 – Snail Bite

A cautionary tale about what can happen if you leave your books on the porch:

Somebody checked out a Book Club Bag from our library.  Each bag contains 8 copies of a title so that members of a book club can all read the same book at the same time.  This person left the bag on her porch so that the members could pick up their copies even if she wasn’t home.  Apparently, a snail decided that it would enjoy a copy of  “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour Bookstore” in it’s own way.

ImageThe little visitor  apparently enjoyed his meal and then left a deposit marking his spot.  Of all the books I’ve seen that have been returned to the library with spines eaten by parrots or chewed up by dogs or children, this is first one I’ve ever seen munched by a snail.

Gives a whole new meaning to ‘bookworm’. 😯
Never heard of a snail eating paper before. Guess you learn something everyday.

    Wow, I had no idea!

Perhaps the snail was searching for the ‘books’ in the story? Or he was looking for some fiber in his diet 😉

    I didn’t know a snail would eat a book. 😮
